BUILDING & GROUNDS COMMITTEE Chair: Herb Ogden
1. Within one month after Annual Meeting, develop a plan for repairs and maintenance based on the budget the Annual Meeting passed. This includes cleaning and painting the building, mowing the lawn, trimming the shrubs, maintaining the flower beds, and removing snow.
2. Schedule and supervise annual volunteers' day "Building Blitz"
3. Continue to discard broken or surplus items.
4. Work with Finance Committee to raise money to preserve stained glass, by telling it what is needed and when.
5. Supervise hired or contracted maintenance (for example, church sexton).

FINANCE COMMITTEE Chair: Diane Sander
1. Maintain financial stability.
2. Meet regularly to conduct business.
3. Get a budget request from each committee.
4. Give Trustees annual budget projections.
5. Propose annual budgets to the Trustees for presentation at Annual Meeting.
6. Help the Trustees with long range planning to work toward aims of the Church
7. Project revenues to fund operating expenses.
8. Monitor actual expense and income versus budgeted expense and income.
9. As necessary, reallocate revenues to fund operating expenses.
10. Make reports and recommendations to the Trustees when indicated.
11. Ensure the Treasurer reports monthly to the Trustees.
12. Ensure a group exists to run each fund-raising event.
13. Coordinate and monitor fund-raising events; avoid conflicting events.
14. Increase the percent of overall income from pledges.
15. Oversee investment of assets.
16. Maintain informational communication with the membership through reports, announcements, newsletter items.

COFFEE HOUSE SUBCOMMITTEE OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE Co-Chairs: Boaz Cohen, Jim Haley, Kevin Kiefaber
1. Schedule a series of folk music concerts 6-8 Saturdays per year.
2. Choose and book performers.
3. Publicize events.
4. Staff each event.
5. Provide refreshments.
6. Choose and publicize a charity to receive some of the net income from each event, considering UU Service Committee recommendations.
7. Recommend to the Trustees what per cent of the net income should go to the charity.

FALL FOLIAGE SUBCOMMITTEE OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE Chair: Kathy Pingree
1. Plan, publicize, and arrange hosts for a bed & breakfast weekend, with group activities, for Unitarian Universalists around the country to come enjoy Vermont in the fall.
2. Decide date, events, schedule of events, and fees for weekend..
3. Obtain commitment from and organize Fellowship volunteers and outside contractors for events.
4. Enlist host families.
5. Publicize the weekend.
6. Respond to inquiries.
7. Staff events.
8. Provide food.
9. Get feedback from those attending and from Fellowship.

PLEDGE SUBCOMMITTEE OF FINANCE COMMITTEE
1. Canvass the members and friends for Operating Fund pledges.
2. Remind pledgers when payments are due.
3. Give pledgers a statement of what they have paid.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE Co-Chair: Jennifer Cohen, Lindsey Johnson
1. Raise the money to pay for the present renovation and expansion.
2. Work with fundraising consultants as needed.
3. Communicate with congregation and Trustees.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE Co-Chair: Erin Robbason, Anna Tally
1. Increase committee members' knowledge of Unitarian Universalism and of this church so they can discuss these topics confidently with potential members.
2. Increase the members and friends of the church.
3. Arrange for small group programs, such as circle dinners, taking a speaker and a few others home for lunch after church, and project teams.
4. If there is a Church administrator, work with this person to increase membership.
5. Build feelings of caring and share experiences among ourselves in the hope that our enthusiasm will spread to others.
6. Prepare a good publicity program.
7. Welcome newcomers at each service and carry out appropriate follow-up such as s note or phone call.
8. Work with Hospitality Committee to provide greeters at each service and invite newcomers to special functions.
9. Update and publish members and friends roll annually.
10. Publish membership directory.
11. Discuss potential sources of new members.
12. Plan orientations for new members.
13. Plan, with the Minister, special services periodically throughout the year for those who wish to join the church.
14. Maintain contact with those whose interest may be waning.
15. Encourage members to fill out milestone records to be used for special announcements and the newsletter.
16. Maintain a well-supplied display of UU pamphlets.
17. Prepare an attractive brochure outlining the local history of Unitarian Universalism, church philosophy, and services.
18. Maintain the church website.
19. Generate Directory as needed.
20. Track names of visitors in guest book for follow-up letters.
21. Schedule people for coffee hour and greeter duties.
22. Maintain basic kitchen supplies.
23. Periodically inventory and clean kitchen equipment.
24. Pass offering plates.

MINISTERIAL SEARCH COMMITTEE (only if there is a vacancy)
1. Find out what the membership wants the Minister to do (for example, half time vs. full time) and present its recommendation to the Trustees.
2. Seek candidates, in cooperation with the Unitarian Universalist Association.
3. Obtain information on candidates and interview the candidates.
4. Report to the Trustees, the Finance Committee, and the membership on the process.
5. Recommend the best candidate to the Annual Meeting.

MUSIC COMMITTEE Chair: Jennifer Cohen
6. Provide quality music for services.
7. Give members and friends the opportunity to sing and play instruments.
8. As needed, increase the number of hymnals by seeking members to sponsor buying them.
9. Maintain the piano and organ and other instruments, including tuning, cleaning, and mechanically.

NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE Co-Chair: Carol Tashie, Sherri Durgin-Campbell
1. Publish and mail a monthly newsletter for members and friends.
2. Secure regular, predictable writers and contributors.
3. Provide regular updates on programs and fund-raisers.
4. Better acquaint members and friends with each other.
5. List greeters, religious education volunteers, coffee hour hosts, and family milestones (such as birthdays) every month.

SUNDAY SERVICE COMMITTEE
1. Work closely with the Minister and congregation in planning, presenting, and evaluating the services.
2. In planning services, try to meet members' spiritual needs, including by (a) providing for identifying those needs and deciding on the form of input, (b) considering diverse spiritual approaches, and (c) increasing the entire sphere of religious knowledge.
3. In planning programs, try to meet members' pragmatic needs, considering youth, elderly, study groups, forums, literary and artistic needs, recreational needs, and other public programs.
4. Promote community commitment - local, district, and continental, including by (a) serving world peace and (b) providing some local community service.
5. Schedule speakers and facilitators all church services, working with the Minister.
6. Create lay led services.
7. Encourage participation in services by all ages.
8. Write and publish the Order of Service.
9. Ensure local newspapers print information on our services and programs.
10. At every service where the Minister is present, ensure that all those attending can identify the Minister.
11. Record services and maintain written document of all services.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION COMMITTEE Contact: Lindra Moerdyk
1. Provide religious education to each age group of children over age four.
2. Provide child care for children 3 and under.
3. Have parents assist as needed (for example, if there are more than three children 3 or under).
4. For 4 - 7 year olds, provide arts, crafts, and drama projects.
5. For 8 - 12 year olds, use curriculum provided by the Unitarian Universalist Association.
6. Provide activities for the teen group, including outside regular Sunday hours.
7. Stimulate and encourage the RE chair and teachers through weekly support by members.
8. Try to enable the RE chair to participate in UU conference(s), such as Star Island, during the summer.
9. Build a sense of community by acquainting the children with each other and with the adult members.
10. Plan appropriate activities for children and youth by involving new people, thereby maintaining the flexibility of the committee.
11. Research and plan curricular needs and options.
12. Consult with parents regarding value content of RE programs.

RENTAL Chair: Cindy Kilic-Murray
1. Maintain calendar for building or grounds rentals.
2. Implement long and short term policies for building rentals, set by the Trustees.
3. Respond to inquiries.
4. Meet with renters as necessary to review contract form and rules for use of building & grounds.
5. Recommend to the Trustees any changes in the contract form for rentals.
6. Issue rental contracts.
7. Send post-event questionnaires to renters and add renters to our mailing list.
8. Communicate any renters' concerns to Building & Grounds Committee.
9. Ensure opening, closing, and cleaning of building occurs.

Elected or Appointed Committees

MINISTERIAL RELATIONS COMMITTEE (Committee on Ministry) Luther Brown (06), Nancy Weis (07), Lynn Parrish (appointed by minister), Bruce Douglas(appointed by minister)
1. Provide a conduit for constructive feedback and suggestions from the members to the Minister.
2. Guide the Minister on needs for pastoral counseling and visits to the homebound.
3. Evaluate the Minister annually.
4. Generally help the Minister carry out effective ministry.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE (NOMINATING COMMITTEE) Cathy Thomas (06), Jean Davies (08)
1. As required in Bylaws, nominate people for all elected offices.
2. Seek people for committees and non-elected offices.
